FPC Tyler partners with many local ministries and nonprofits, equipping them to better serve the East Texas community and meet a diversity of needs, both material and spiritual. Our partners include:

PATH (People Attempting to Help)

PATH is a holistic community resource for economically disadvantaged folks which seeks not only to alleviate poverty, but to end its cycle. By empowering its clients to continue their education, receive medical care, and find affordable housing, PATH reconciles the factors contributing to homelessness and unemployment and provides extra support along the way.

Begun in 1984 by a member of our own congregation, PATH continues to marshal support from ministry partners across the city, collecting donations for its food pantry, matching mentors with children in need, and providing help wherever they can.

Habitat for Humanity

The Smith County chapter of Habitat for Humanity has been building houses for twenty-five years, and in 2013, many of FPC’s members helped build their 100th home. In addition to their primary mission, building homes in partnership with prospective homeowners, Smith County Habitat runs a program called ReHabitat, working with low-income homeowners to maintain their homes and neighborhoods. In support of these ministries, a retail store called ReStore generates income by selling new and used home improvement supplies.

Literacy Council of Tyler

Free for any adult in need, the Literacy Council helps people learn to read and write, complete their GED, enter higher education or vocational training, and find a job. Their annual Corporate Spelling Bee is a smash-hit fundraiser, reminding even the literate that learning is a lifelong pursuit.

Bethesda Health Clinic

In a city filled with hospitals and health-care options, Bethesda Health Clinic addresses an unmet need. Their staff and volunteer physicians provide affordable, high-quality care for the working uninsured. This Christ-centered ministry eases families’ financial stress while providing a pressure valve for local ERs and hospitals.

Gateway to Hope

Gateway to Hope works to end homelessness, assisting families, men, women, and children in finding stable employment and a place to call home. The coalition offers basic services such as haircuts and showers, photo IDs, and computer access, as well as social services such as medical care, food stamps, and temporary housing.

Samaritan Counseling Center of Tyler

As an interfaith community-based resource for counseling services, Samaritan Counseling Center believes that the health of mind, body, and spirit are interdependent. Through counseling, psychotherapy, research, and education, SCC is a free resource for issues ranging from relationships and parenting to grief and loss to addiction and abuse.

Meals on Wheels

The East Texas HQ for Meals on Wheels has delivered over 15 million meals to disabled and homebound seniors since its founding in 1973. Senior hunger is an often invisible hardship that infiltrates every neighborhood. Meals on Wheels seeks to provide nutrition and an invaluable daily safety check, enabling their clients to live independently.
