Caring for souls starts with meeting the most simple of needs. Our global mission partners help us reach out to those with the least, providing the basic necessities to nurture healthy bodies, creative minds, and curious souls.
Solar Under the Sun & Living Waters for the World
Solar Under the Sun and Living Waters for the World are partner ministries of the PCUSA, working to provide solar-generated power and clean water to some of the poorest communities around the world. In 2014, FPC Tyler entered into a covenant with the community at St. Etienne Church and School in Haiti, along with mission partner Central Presbyterian Church of Fort Smith, Arkansas, with the goal of designing, installing, and sustainably equipping St. Etienne with the basic utilities of water and electricity.
Presbyterian Education Board of Pakistan
In a country facing enormous resistance to education reform and access for all students, the Presbyterian Education Board of Pakistan works to provide schooling to children and youth—primary, secondary, and beyond, including vocational and technical training—regardless of race, gender, or creed.
PRESBYTERIAN Mission Agency
The Presbyterian Mission Agency is the ministry and mission agency of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Four ministry areas carry out their work: Compassion, Peace and Justice; Racial Ethnic & Women’s Ministries; Theology, Formation and Evangelism; and World Mission. PMA works together to inspire, equip, and connect all Presbyterians for the church’s work. Locally, First Presbyterian Church of Tyler is supporting PCUSA mission co-workers in Zambia, Charles and Melissa Johnson, as Global Mission Partners. FPC Tyler will support the Johnson'sthrough prayers, communication and yearly financial support.
Presbyterian Disaster Assistance
As the PCUSA’s disaster-response ministry, Presbyterian Disaster Assistance works year round, partnering with communities and churches across the globe, to provide aid in the aftermath of natural disasters, in the midst of public health crises, and in the throes of war and violence. Right now, PDA is focusing their efforts to provide aid in the Ebola outbreak, the Syrian crisis, and the U.S.-Mexico border crisis, among others.
