Tyler Civic Chorale and East Texas Baroque join forces for one of the greatest English-language oratorios ever composed: Messiah by George Frideric Handel. Since its premiere on April 13th, 1742 in Dublin, the work has become one of the best-known and most often performed choral works in Western music, and is a beloved holiday tradition for many. In three parts, the oratorio follows the life of Jesus of Nazareth from his birth through to his ascension. When asked about composing the ‘Hallelujah Chorus’ from Messiah, Handel is said to have remarked "Whether I was in my body or out of my body as I wrote it I know not. God knows."
